What are the surface characteristics
of the part?
Many types of marks are required by industry
on many materials. The softness, hardness, composition, thinness, and texture
of the marking zone are all required to be taken into consideration. Technifor
marking systems incorporate flexible components suited to create a legible
mark on a variety of surfaces.
Choosing the right way to create a mark:
Surface, marking area, access to that
area and cycle time allowances all factor into the best method chosen.
Pneumatic Micro percussion is good for most solid metals and plastics while
scriber marking can mark a hollow part with minimal noise. Electromagnetic
marking is suited for Mark&Read applications and where an air supply
is not part of the application. Laser marking suits non contact high resolution
and rapid marking needs.
Is Machine Readable marking part of
the application?
DATAMATRIX™ marking requires a very stable
process of marking onto a surface with a high level of accuracy to create
a camera legible image with reliability. Technifor has found that only
an electromagnetic, precision ball screw driven system can produce
the constancy that industry demands.
The Working Environment:
Always make sure that your marking method
is robust. Cutting fluids, oils, metal & plastic chips, and heat all
have an effect upon the reliability of an on-line marker. Technifor answers
these demands with sealed and protected units that can be incorporated
within automation – even upside down in a rain of fluids!
How are such marker systems maintained?
All equipment needs maintenance. The key
is to incorporate a marker that requires only a minimum of attention. Technifor
pneumatic units address this issue with protected, non lubricated operation
that requires only dry air to operate. Training for self support and PM
is available.
